Hoa Binh is a mountainous province in Northern Vietnam with an estimated population of 77,004 persons, comprising eight different ethnic minorities of whom the Muong group accounts for 70%. Over recent years, the peoples’ living conditions have improved considerably, reaching GDP average income of VND 3,000,000 per capita, or USD 200/year. The peoples’ lives have been improved, public works have been upgraded and constructed, and social policies have been applied, in particular assistance programs for handicapped persons, orphans, and the elderly. They also enjoy a governmental nurturing allowance, but only VND 50,000/month per capita, or 3 USD.

As an update on our progress...all of the Home Study documents that we have control over (all except references) are complete (including our physicals)!! And, our last home study visit is on Tuesday!! In other news, Nate's passport came on Wednesday, BUT it had his name spelled incorrectly! So, needless to say, that must be corrected. (Luckily, that is a Dossier document and not a home study document, so we do not need it as quickly.) Anyway, Nate sent it back today and requested expedited correction (2 weeks), so we will see...
